July 2018 is here. After a beautiful beginning to summer, the second half of July has been filled with rain, rain, rain. The surf is wicked, often going in several directions at once. Unfortunately, people have died in rip currents and rough surf all up and down the Carolina coast.
Wen the water calms down, there have been spot and pinfish in the surf. Over at the pier they’ve caught the occasional black drum and King fisherman have gotten some of them as well.
The pinfish are plentiful and great for stealing your bait. If you can put on a teeny tiny hook and a sixth of a piece of shrimp, you can catch the pinfish.
There are occasional small mullets and other things out there as well.
