Topsail Island Fishing Report November 2018

November 2018 has been a funny month for fish. There’s some black drum out there but most people have been catching spots and mullets.

There are lots of spots out there, so if you’re into spots you just need your pole, a cooler and bloodworms.

As of the middle of November the water temperatures finally hit 69 degrees and the speckled trout are being caught at the pier.

I’m not sure what is going on over on the sound side or in the surf, but I’ll be down there this month and will update this article if I have any additional news.

As always, go here for the latest Topsail Island Fishing Report.

Happy Thanksgiving!

November 26 2018 update:

The ocean temperature dropped to 63 and the spots have disappeared. There are black drum in the surf. When the high tide is in the mullets (aka Whiting) have been going crazy in the morning. I talked to a guy this morning with about 40 fish in his cooler, and they were all at least a foot long. They were using bloodworms.

The full moon has the tide way up this week. I have been to the pier a few times but people are mostly catching a few smaller mullets here and there, and out deeper they’re biting shrimp. I was there for a couple of hours tonight and I managed to catch 3 little fish.
