Topsail Island Fishing Report September 2018 - Welcome to Topsail Island

Topsail Island Fishing Report September 2018

It has been a horrible month for Topsail Island thanks to Hurricane Florence. The beach is shut down and they aren’t letting anyone on. That means there’s basically nothing to report just yet.

Be sure to see the August 2018 Fishing Report. I got pretty in depth in that article as I was on the island almost the whole month!

For future updates, see the Topsail Island Fishing Report.

September 2018

I’ll start with what I know for surf fishing and pier fishing, but I don’t know much.

In late August the water temperature at the pier was 80 degrees. There were undersized flounder on the back of the island with a few keepers here and there at the pier. The King fish and the Spanish Mackerel were showing up and the blues were just arriving. Black Drum were in the shallow waters biting shrimp. Mullet and Spot were biting, and, of course, Pinfish were plentiful.

I hope to post some more news soon but as of September 19, 2018, the island is closed. Even when it reopens to owners, it’s probably going to be October before anyone else gets onto the island.

When October comes, be sure to visit this page: Topsail Island Fishing Report. And be sure to comment below if you have any additional tips on what’s biting!
